6 Burning Questions We Have after GLOW Season 2

Season 2 of the Netflix original series “GLOW” (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) premiered last week with 10 new episodes full of awesome women’s wrestling, relationship conflicts, sex and some ridiculous ‘80s fashion. The 10 episodes has left us with six new question that we hope are answered in Season 3.

  1. Is Ruth and Debbie’s relationship finally resolved?

The main question on our minds, and the premise to the entire show, is will the tumultuous relationship between Ruth (Allison Brie) and Debbie (Betty Giplin) ever be settled? Debbie may never forgive Ruth for being a homewrecker and ruining her marriage, as proven by Debbie’s attempt to destroy Ruth and cameraman Russel’s relationship before it even began. However, the final episodes of Season 2 laid out the foundation for Season 3 to be the time for the two to finally make up, or at least make up in the best way these two strong personalities could. After Debbie injured Ruth’s ankle, the two were able to have the heart-to-heart about their complicated issues. Although the discussion was heated, it may have been what the two needed to finally move on from Season 1 quarrels. Season 3 can see the two finally make up, but it can also see increased tensions.

2. How will the crew fare in Vegas?

In the season finale of the show, the “GLOW” performers presented what they believed was their best show which featured an on-screen marriage and a thrilling Battle Royal featuring Machu Picchu’s brother Big Kurt Jackson and fellow wrestler Chico Guapo (played by actual former WWE wrestlers Carlito and Chavo Guerrero). However, they were unable to impress producers of K-DTV, which cancelled the show. Luckily, Ray, a local businessman (actually, a strip club owner) offered them a position to take their show to Vegas. And while Hollywood of the mid-’80s was insane, Vegas may have been on another level. None of us can imagine what’s in store for the ladies in Sin City.

3. Were Bash and his butler in love?

While viewers are used to being brought to tears of laughter due to the outrageous mishaps and sagas in “GLOW”, tears of sadness slipped through our eyelids when we found out Florian, Bash’s adorable and flamboyant butler, has died of AIDS. Throughout Season 2, Bash’s endless search for Florian, who quit due to a bounced check Bash gave him, left viewers wondering if there was more than just a employer-employee relationship between the two. Though the show never states it, we can assume by Bash’s reaction to Florian’s death that their relationship was deeper than simply a friendship. We’re all waiting in anticipation to see if Season 3 will be the time for Bash to finally come out of the closet in a decade hostile towards gay men.

4. Will Bash and Rhonda’s marriage last?

After the depression and anxiety Bash struggled through due to the death of Florian, he suddenly chose to marry Rhonda (Kate Nash), despite the planned marriage she was supposed to have with a fan in front of the “GLOW” fans in attendance. It appears neither of them are in the marriage for the right reasons (Rhonda to eventually obtain a green card and Bash due to fear of being alone), so the marriage may not last. Or, as seen by a few of the final scenes of the show, will Bash go out of his way to cherish Rhonda with gifts and money in an effort to fill the hole left in his heart by the sudden death of Florian?

5. Will we see Justine again?

One of the few redeeming qualities about Mark Maron’s character Sam, the fictional director of “GLOW”, is the love and parental guidance he attempts to provide for his daughter Justine. Season 2 saw the two butt heads early until Sam discovered that Justine is a part of the AV club at her high school. Sam begins to go out of his way to relate with Justine and even allowed her to direct an episode of the show. However, Justine’s mother from Sacramento arrived in an effort to bring her back home. Sam eventually obliged to the move, but considering Justine’s anger with her mother and her newfound admiration of her father, there is a chance we see her pop up in Vegas with her dad.

6. Will we see an actual match?

Okay, nearly every episode of “GLOW” features a match, but they’re matches produced for a television series, not an actual professional wrestling company. This may be a stretch, but we cannot rule out the potential for a match on the show that is very similar to what we see in actual professional. While the idea may sound extreme, it is important to acknowledge that Kia Stevens, who plays Welfare Queen, is a former professional wrestler who performed in TNA and WWE under the names Awesome Kong and Kharma. And not only was she a wrestler, she was arguably one of the best of the 2000s, and one of the few women to actually main event a live wrestling show. If the producers of “GLOW” can sign a former wrestler turned actor (there’s plenty of them) or heavily train someone already on board to perform a legitimate looking wrestling match against Stevens, it would be great for the pro wrestling fans who tune into the show.
